Songs of the Week 4: April 5 – April 11

Curren$y#5. Curren$y Ft. Jadakiss – Pot Jar

I’m a big fan of Pilot Talk III, Curren$y’s latest record which was just released last week. Lots of standout tracks, but my favorite by far was Pot Jar. The mellow vibes make it so easy to like.

Boogrov

#4. Boogrov Ft. AYER – Next to Mine

This here is straight up baby-makin music. The chorus almost has a Phil Collins-esque sound to it and AYER does a killer job on the vocals.

Tame Impala

#3. Tame Impala – ‘Cause I’m a Man

One of the early releases from Tame Impala’s upcoming record Currents. Got that hazy Tame Impala sound with a pretty seductive few verses. Looking forward to the album.

The Chainsmokers

#2. Steve Aoki Ft. Fall Out Boy – Back to Earth (The Chainsmokers Remix)

I learned a long time ago to ignore what public perception was of bands and to like music for what it’s supposed to do – make my ears smile. I’m sure the distinctive vocals from Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump will turn a lot of people off of this one, but I can’t help but want to dance every time I hear it. I actually hadn’t heard the original before, so I’ve put Steve Aoki’s album Neon Future I on my music to-do list.

Henry Green

#1. Henry Green – Barcelona

It’s probably a bit obvious by now, but give me anything with female vocals overtop a minimalistic instrumental and I’ll probably love it. Another song that’s grown on me the more I listen, Henry Green is now on my radar.
