#5. Sun Drug – Easy In Your Attitude
Some hazy, psych-rock opens up the list this week with Easy In Your Attitude from Sun Drug. Loving the building-chorus that makes me want to blast this song while pounding down the highway somewhere in the middle of the Californian desert.
#4. Teischa – Couldn’t Care Less
Sometimes a song is just too catchy to ignore. I found myself humming Couldn’t Care Less days after I first heard it, and eventually caved to it’s easy-going sound. I also am digging the vocal effects that she kicks near the end.
#3. Beatrice Eli – Moment of Clarity
This one wasn’t doing much for me until the chorus – which completely tied together the song in my opinion. Much in the way that Teischa’s Couldn’t Care Less felt simple, but in a good way, Moment of Clarity has that same vibe. It’s an easy listen that you subconsciously just start nodding along with (albeit a bit grittier than the previously mentioned Couldn’t Care Less)
#2. Active Child – Never Far Away
I’ve been a huge fan of Active Child for as long as I can recall, and his new album Mercy was a fantastic release. My far and away favourites are 1999 and Never Far Away. The wobbling “yeaaaaaah” heard in the background several times throughout the song is what did it for me. Lush and captivating.
#1. Gener8ion feat. M.I.A. – The New International Sound (Part. II)
M.I.A. has always been a bit of a hit or miss with me. This one is a major hit. Her vocals are perfect for the grimey-dance number from Gener8ion. There’s almost a tribal feel to this one. The pulsing synths are my favorite part (because in all seriousness, every song I post is usually a favourite because of one small trait that captures my attention).
