#5. Claptone Feat. Nathan Nicholson – Heartbeat
Catchy lyrics, catchy beat, catchy song. I like a good prog house track, and while the above isn’t the extended mix by any means, it is the perfect snippet to give you a taste of some real smooth house music from an artist known to produce lots of quality stuff.
#4. Prince Rama – Now Is The Time of Emotion
Went to a show last week with a friend. She loved Prince Rama. I loved one of their tracks (Bahia), but couldn’t offer much about anything else they’d done. Going to chalk that mistake down to my own stupidity. I was blown away at this show… perhaps because I went in with no expectations, but more likely because Prince Rama are just pure fun. This was the song from their set (I think they played it third) that really got the joint rocking.
#3. Jay Fresh Feat. Jay Sabin – Heard it All Before
Been a while since hip hop has happened upon a weekly post. Jay Fresh changes that with Heard It All Before. This one I’m obviously quite late on, as it was released last year… but the laid-back nature of the track sits nicely with me and the style of hip hop I tend to enjoy.
#2. Matt Black – Riot
soundcloud.com/officialmattblack
Matt Black was my big, exciting discovery this past week. While this track didn’t hit the #1 spot, we’ll be seeing Matt Black here again next week as another of his songs blows me away and I just didn’t want to have the same artist featured twice in one week (I know, I’ve don’t it before… if you really want to hear it, Mr. Black has only released two songs on his soundcloud so it shouldn’t be too hard to guess which one will be here next week).
#1. Glasshouse – Back To You
Lovely soft rock (pop?) from Glasshouse here. I was hooked from the first guitar pluck, and the subtle strings in the chorus only make it that much better (I’m a sucker for strings).
