Songs of the Week 63: May 29 – June 4

shouse#5. SHOUSE Feat. Habits – Whisper

Sometimes tracks stick with me just because they are different from everything else in the moment. SHOUSE & Habits dark, intimidating sound that also mixes in some nostalgic feelings of late 80s synths. I do think the track fades a bit as it goes, but boy does it start off with strength.

katmaz#4. Katmaz – Nautical Things

Whereas the SHOUSE song faded for me, Katmaz’s Nautical Things starts off a tad slow but really builds up into an almost anthemic folk-esque track (is there such a thing?!).

the him#3. Jocelyn Alice – Jackpot (The Him Remix) //

The first two tracks were a bit out of my wheelhouse in terms of stlyes I usually go for. The Him bring me right back to what I gravitate towards most – catchy electronic dance music. Great energy in this remix of Jocelyn Alice’s Jackpot.

maala#2. MAALA – Kind of Love

Chet Faker’s voice double here (although maybe not quite the range that Chet has). Neverthelss – loving the tempo and changeups in style throughout Kind of Love. Might not have enough variety in the chorus to see longevity in the top songs rotation playlist, but for now there’s enough to keep me grooving.

ghosts#1. Ghosts Feat. Josh Roa – Haunted

Loving the vocals from Josh Roa here. Similar to MAALA’s track above, this is a dance-infused pop track with some nice changes in pace.
