Songs of the Week 136: October 22 – October 28

miles from kinshasa 2#5. Miles From Kinshasa – Fireworks

soundcloud.com/milesfromkinshasa

First of two this week from my new main man Miles From Kinshasa. Coulda easily gone with both of these last week as well, but wanted to spread out the love a bit. Give this one some time, as it really gets going in the second half the with guitar licks.

zanski#4. Zanski – Hazy

Another artist who’s debut kinda blew my mind. I’ve previously featured Don’t Say Later, but Hazy is just as silky smooth.

jy#3. Jy – Pink & Blue

Despite having similar names, I still get some Pink + White Frank Ocean vibes from Jy’s Pink & Blue. With this being just his third release, I’m expecting big things in the future.

kite string tangle#2. The Kite String Tangle – This Thing We Got

soundcloud.com/thekitestringtangle

Pretty sure I called him The Kite String Triangle for the first few months after discovering him earlier this year. Get the feeling that his latest single, This Thing We Got, may be the track to break him through to the masses.

miles from kinshasa#1. Miles From Kinshasa – Overboard

The poppiest of all the Miles songs I’ve come across takes top spot this week. Get a bit of Theophilus London vs. Blood Orange vibes here.

Songs of the Week 135: October 15 – October 21

tiber#5. Tiber Feat. Fantastic Fantastic – All I Need

Chill, lounge-esque music from Tiber & Fantastic Fantastic.

#4. Mikky Ekko – Blood On The Surface

soundcloud.com/mikkyekko

Mikky been releasing so much music recently that I can’t even keep up with my weekly schedule. I’ve always been a bit hit and miss with his stuff, but this one is definitely a hit.

#3. Biyo – Fantasies

soundcloud.com/biyobiyo

I always get Baio (of Vampire Weekend fame) and Biyo mixed up. Not musically or stylistically… just straight up having similar monikers does it for me.

#2. Louis Mattrs – Don’t Like Dancing

soundcloud.com/louismattrs

Another track that on any normal week would easily be #1, but alas it ran into a new juggernaut. That said, Louis Mattrs’ latest album is brilliant, and Don’t Like Dancing is my personal fav. Got a bit of JT in his prime feel to it. Louis really knows how to write some catchy hooks.

Miles From Kinshasa – Ivry

soundcloud.com/milesfromkinshasa

It’s tough to keep track of all the music in the world. Case in point, Miles From Kinshasa has been around for a good few years and I only just came across his stuff due to his recently released nine-track album. He has officially blown my mind. His style and sound is super cool. Ivry is my top track, and it’s actually one of his oldest. So pumped for any future Miles From Kinshasa releases… as he’s easily one of my favorite new artists. P.S. Miles From Kinshasa is such a great name for a band/musician.
