Songs of the Week 160: April 22 – April 29

cam gainley#5. Cameron Gainley – Miles And Miles

Something here seems to put me into a trance and just absorbs my attention. Kinda like when someone with a really quiet voice is telling a super interesting story and so you have to lean in to not miss anything. This song is that person telling a story.

kai straw#4. Kai Straw – Rolls

Kai Straw sneaky released Gun this past month and somehow I missed it until just a few days ago. Lots of quality there – Rolls is the one that stuck with me most.

seth xvi#3. Seth XVI – Your Taste

soundcloud.com/seth-xvi

One of those tracks that works the minimalist thing real well and takes advantage of silence.

the paper kites#2. The Paper Kites – St. Clarity (Mahogany Sessions Version)

soundcloud.com/thepaperkitesofficial

I’m usually not a huge fan of all these “sessions” type versions that seemingly every band does now. However, I can appreciate that some people love it and there are definitely times the sessions version will trump the studio. This is one of those times. Beautiful rendition of St. Clarity (which oddly enough wasn’t really one of my favorites off the album).

khalid#1. Khalid Feat. Ty Dolla $ign & 6lack – OTW

Khalid continues to dominate the airwaves, now partnering with Ty & 6lack on OTW. Super catchy, made for radio and just a nice time overall.

Songs of the Week 159: April 15 – April 21

her#5. Her – Shuggie

soundcloud.com/thebandher

I’d already featured a bunch of songs from Her’s debut album before it was released, but knowing how awesome they are it was a good bet to see at least one more track come out of it that had yet to be released as a single.

fabich#4. Fabich Feat. James Vickery – Overtime

soundcloud.com/fabichmusic

It’s really be some time since I came across a smashing prog dance track. I don’t think this is it, but it’s close. It’s almost a tease of a dance track… makes you think it’s gonna just blow up at any second into a full on rager but instead settles down into something more controlled.

bravestation#3. Bravestation – Deeper Than Oceans

soundcloud.com/bravestation

Vibes that sound like they should be from the late 80s, but still would be right at home in some nice upscale piano bar in 2018.

georgie kieffer#2. Geordie Kieffer – Touch Me Tease Me

soundcloud.com/geordie-kieffer

Not sure how this track made it all the way up to #2, but here we are. It’s … something. The video is also a must watch. As odd as it is, I can’t get it out of my head. Plus… that dude bum man. So hot.

mad clown san e#1. Mad Clown & San E – Butterfly

www.facebook.com/sanethebigboy/ // www.facebook.com/officialmadc/

Yep – still obsessed with KPop. In fact, this song actually unseated the new Drake track last week. I was so torn about having two real strong releases in the same week that I instead shifted this one to this week. Again, a fun video can be found should you be so inclined. KPop is brilliant.
