#5. Local Natives – Megaton Mile
I’ve never really been on the Local Natives train. No good reason why – they’ve just never seemed to enter my musical world. That said I gave their newest album a listen, and it’s nice time. Megaton Mile is far and away my favorite track.
#4. Taylor Beau & Lil Anne – Faded
Not too sure what the story is here. Taylor is some sort of celebrity turned pop artist? Or is dating someone famous? I don’t know, I’m too old for this shit. That said gotta admit when a song is catchy and this track has got it going.
#3. Khushi – Freedom Falls
Another one of those tracks that is both super cool and super unique. Feels like it belongs in a movie with an iconic soundtrack like Garden State.
#2. Tobi – 180 / Serenity
This is smoooooth. Crazy chill with the kind of beat that has you subconsciously bobbing your head along without realizing it. Not a huge fan of the backhalf track Serenity, but hey… can’t win em all.
#1. Jeremy Zucker Feat. Chelsea Cutler – Hello Old Friend
Bit of a 180 (see what I did there?!?!) from the Tobi track, we delve into emo pop and a song that rekindles that highschool feel of teen angst pop. Not a huge fan of the opening verse, but come 1:00 minute on the song really takes off.
#5. Blackbear – Pink Rolex
Blackbear’s a divisive character amongst the RnB and hip-hop crowd. Seems you either hate him or love him. I’m firmly a fence sitter in the battle, but I did enjoy Pink Rolex from his recent album drop.
#4. Noah Slee Feat. Shiloh Dynasty – DGAF
Yep. The wtr track last week had me re-visiting DGAF and made me realize I never did give the tack a proper shot. Been addicted ever since. I’m now down a Noah Slee wormhole and all the glory that exists in his musical catalogue.
#3. Teflon Sega Feat. Ozzie – Damage
It’s legitimately a challenge to keep up with how much music Teflon Sega releases. While I’m finding a lot of his tracks are starting to sound the same, Damage has got some uniqueness to it. Just wish the dude would start uploading his tracks to Spotify again!!
#2. Johnny Utah – Honeypie
Right from the opening few seconds you know that guitar lick will be stuck in your head for days. On repeat for daysssssss.
#1. Big Data – Put Me To Work
The crew at Big Data have been on a roll lately. Hit after hit after hit. This one really shines in the chorus.
