Songs of the Week 270: June 7 – June 13

nilo blues#5. Nilo Blues – She Like It

I don’t feel like I should like this track, but yet here we are. There’s some real goodness in that the post-chorus hook, and you can really hear the Drake influences.

innr circle#4. Innr Circle – Waves

Discovery of last week who I think is going to go onto big things. Got a really cool sound, and while the song itself is not blowing my mind I am so into the potential.

zhao#3. Zhao Feat. Annabelle Marginnis & Def Sound & Tolliver – Recollection

I kinda feel like Zhao is a sneaky music mastermind. His tracks are so unique and quirky, yet incredibly accessible.

be no rain#2. Be No Rain – All Night, Right?

I am so so so into this song and I don’t know why. There’s something about it that tickles my ears in a very nice way.

dornik-hangon#1. Dornik Feat. Skripture – Hang On

The last of the Dornik train, which makes me kinda sad. Another top quality track from Limboland. Dude is too good at music.

Songs of the Week 269: May 31 – June 6

lady gaga#5. Lady Gaga – Enigma

Ultimately, I think there is only so much Gaga I can take in at any one point in time. I’ve currently hit my limit. Between Engima and Stupid Love a few weeks ago, I’m probably set for the next year or so.

boston manor#4. Boston Manor – Plasticine Dreams

I could throw this song into any grunge mix of the 90s/early 2000s and it wouldn’t be out of place at all. Treble Charger, Sum 41, Boston Manor, Bush… it fits perfectly.

jaycee#3. Jayee – Lie To You

Top three tracks this week are all tied for #1. Too close to call. Starting with Jaycee’s rnb banger that has one hell of a post-chorus-pre-verse… hook? I don’t really know what to call that.

mariah the scientist#2. Mariah The Scientist – RIP

This one completely came out of nowhere. I think it was retweeted by an artist I follow on Soundcloud. The new Kehlani (which isn’t even fair to Kehlani… she’s still in her prime!). Excited to see where Mariah The Scientest goes.

dornik-yougotit#1. Dornik Feat. Taylor Graves – You Got It

More Dornik because that’s what everyone needs in their life right now. Smooth, ear-pleasing R&B jams. His newest album is so so good. He best not take another five years to give us new music after this drop!! Can’t wait that long again.
