Songs of the Week 297: December 13 – December 19

#5. Freestylers – Happiness

Freestylers | Freestylers | Free Listening on SoundCloud

While not typically my jam, this light DnB track has some serious grooves going on. Also appreciate the radio edit for those of us without the attention span to handle a 6+ minute track.

#4. Chris Conroy – Sink Or Swim

Chris Conroy | Free Listening on SoundCloud

A real Dermot Kennedy sound going here, and probably one of the catchiest verses I’ve heard in a while.

#3. Fleming – Someone’s In The Room

Fleming | Free Listening on SoundCloud

I was hooked the second he worked a tape player into his lyrics and sound effects. Haunting and original.

#2. Sabirel – Love Again

Sabriel Music | Free Listening on SoundCloud

After giving this one a few proper listens to make the list this week, I am very tempted to actually make it my top track of the sweet. There’s some subtle brilliance here that doesn’t come through in the first listen (at least it didn’t to me).

#1. Hyyts – SOS

HYYTS | Adam and Sam HYYTS | Free Listening on SoundCloud

I happened to first hear this song via their music video and it’s etched into my brain on each listen. It’s well worth a watch (at least until the kinda awkward creepy end). Just totally cute and endearing and relatable for anyone who’s ever gone to sing karaoke. Track is also straight up rocking. Great falsetto’s.

Songs of the Week 296: December 6 – December 12

#5. Josh Fudge – There She Goes

Josh Fudge | Free Listening on SoundCloud

Josh fudge is really starting to cement his sound, and I’m very here for it. Another feel-good track.

#4. Jazz Cartier – Basement

Jazz Cartier | Free Listening on SoundCloud

Struggled with where to place this one. On one hand, it’s hook & chorus have been stuck in my head for dayyys. On the other hand, it doesn’t have verses that stick with me (which is usually what I gravitate towards in hip hop).

#3. Rozet Feat. Black + Creme – Phantom City

ROZET | Free Listening on SoundCloud

This track is just full of flair and grace. Like it belongs in some posh, downtown NYC, super secret underground lounge for only the most artiste of artists.

#2. At Dawn – Nightfall

At Dawn | Free Listening on SoundCloud

This one takes a bit to get going, but it’ll grow on ya. You’ll find yourself picking out little parts of the song’s build that make it that much more glorious on future listens.

#1. Jai Wolf Feat. Wrabel – Moon Rider

Jai Wolf | Free Listening on SoundCloud

Been a back and forth battle between the original (this) and the ilo ilo remix that I actually heard before the original. Love em both, but I do think the original wins out by a hair, with it’s glorious 80s tron-vibes and booming sounds. Also love Wrabel’s vocals (who actually sounds a hell of a lot like Sam Smith here).
