Songs of the Week 326: July 18 – July 24

#5. Channo & Luchii – Vertebrae

Catchy downtempo track to get lost in with a beat that’ll stick with you well after listening.

#4. Tchami – Ain’t That Kind Of Friend

Not sure if that’s a MJ sample or a warp of some vocals or just a natural voice that sounds strikingly similar to a warped MJ hook, but regardless I’m very here for it.

#3. Earl Elliot – Freeway (2006)

A tender, rough around the edges track that has the appeal of a backyard private show from your friend’s band. Feels very intimate.

#2. Harloe – Crush On You

Pure, catchy power pop that’ll bring you back to the Madonna-era 80s.

#1. Chiiild – Eventually

First – I realize this is becoming “Because It’s Monday”… I’ve been late recently. Shit’s been cray. Regardless, I have zero words for this stunner. Just listen and revel in all it’s glory. As mentioned a week or two ago… we’re on a streak here of potential tracks of the year each week.

Songs of the Week 325: July 11 – July 17

#5. Sunni Colon – Penny For Your Thoughts

Feel like Sunni Colon was all over this blog last year or the year before, but hadn’t come across much of his stuff this year yet. He’s made up for that with a lengthy, chilld, RnB track (maybe a touch too lengthy for me).

#4. Punctual – Fading Youth

Stream Punctual music | Listen to songs, albums, playlists for free on SoundCloud

One of those tracks that comes across the speakers and you hear it, but you don’t really. It’s subtle and the perfect background track for a chill cafe date where, during a moment of silence in the conversation, you will think “oh, this track is nice” and then you carry on with your day.

#3. Magnus Chapple Feat. Niels – You There

Stream Magnus Chapple music | Listen to songs, albums, playlists for free on SoundCloud

Some blues-y, jazzy swagger that is catchier than it first appears.

#2. Chris Malinchak – Get Away

Stream Chris Malinchak music | Listen to songs, albums, playlists for free on SoundCloud

Pretty sure Chris Malinchak has gotta be closing on on the vaunted top spot for tracks covered from one artist on this blog. I am just so enamored with his sound. Every track, while it definitely has a “type”, is right up my alley.

#1. Tobi Feat. Baby Rose – Come As You Are

Stream TOBi music | Listen to songs, albums, playlists for free on SoundCloud

I actually delayed sharing this track by one week as I thought it deserved a top spot mention. It’s a heavy hitter, and in consideration from track of the year. Tobi is so damn versatile. We’re actually in the midst of a 3 or 4 week span of shockingly good top tracks each week. Next week already is another banger lined up (which too will be a contender of track of the year…)
