As you’ll soon see, this seems to be the week of summery, airy indie pop. I guess it goes hand in hand with the first real real warm week of weather we’ve had out here on the west coast of Canada. Debut from Seeing Hands is going to have you feeling those wind-in-the-hair, beach-side drives real fast.
We now transport back to the 80s summer time for some retro-feeling stuff from Heartracer. Was really “well, this is ok” about this track until that guitar riff kicked in around the 1:20 mark. Then they take you on a hyper-driven ride for the last 3 minutes and it’s glorious.
We finish with a delicate and lovely track from beats master himself Ta-Ku, who hooks up with Wafia as part of the (m)edian ep. Not often would I describe a track as “pretty”, but that’s exactly what this is.
Love the chorus here, and the slow build throughout the song. There’s a full, anthemic sound to Blood, the first (and only) track I’ve heard from Equador. Hoping to hear more soon as they prep a release of their debut album.
#2. Casper & B. Feat. Michael Christmas & Marc E. Bassy – Work Hard
It’s always a better week when I come across some new hip hop. Work Hard is not the typical type of hip hop track I like (usually I’m more into chillhop), but this hard-hitting track wins me over with a brilliant pace-changing chorus. God it’s so damn good. The more I listen, the more I like the grimey, dirty, base-driven verses… but man… That flowing chorus is so so nice.
Heard this track Sunday evening of last week and almost considered re-writing my last week’s post to add this one in. I love ROMES (who can hold claim to having one of my favorite songs already in Tryna Be), and now mellowmatics flips Believe into a gloriously bouncey dance track.
