Songs of the Week 227: August 4 – August 10

ldru#5. L D R U Feat. Boo Seeka – Ruler

I’m a major L D R U fanboy and this is another killer track in his above average lineup.

elijah woods#4. Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine – Meditate

In addition to Taste (featured last week), I’ve been really into Meditate, another new-ish track from Jamie Fine & Elijah Woods.

majid jordan#3. Majid Jordan Feat. Khalid – Caught Up

The Majid Jordan boys are slowly but surely becoming some of the biggest RnB stars in the game right now. Having Drake backing you obviously helps, as done grabbing Khalid for a feature.

big data#2. Big Data Feat. L1ZY – Slay

One of the nerdiest (and catchiest) bands going right now dropped a new album a week or two ago. It’s great. You should listen to it.

julian avila#1. Julian Avila Feat. Lakey Inspired – Come Through and Chill

Another smooth track from Julian Avila (which in reality is a cover of the Miguel track of the same name). Wish this dude would upload his stuff to Soundcloud…

Songs of the Week 195: December 23 – December 29

the 1975#5. The 1975 – I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes)

Still bumping the latest 1975 album. I Wanna Die (Sometimes) is one of the most nostalgic-sounding songs I’ve heard in a long time that transports me directly back into the cringey-emo years of high school. Good times.

ldru#4. L D R U Feat. Mammals – Can’t Drive

L D R U has shot up to the top of my “must see” list for shows in 2019 on this track alone. The distortion of that chorus would just melt the insides live.

cassius#3. Cassius Feat. Ryan Tedder – Hey You!

I’m cheating here. I had this song saved from when the album was released way back in the summer of 2016… but for whatever reason it never really caught on… that is, until it randomly showed up through my Spotfiy shuffle and had me checking on what track was playing. It’s now getting into the heavy rotation it so rightly deserves.

teflon sega#2. Teflon Sega – Oh Yeah

Teflon Sega is becoming a weekly feature here. Dude just makes some amazing music that really doesn’t sound like anything else out there.

jax jones#1. Jax Jones Feat. Years & Years – Play

Anything featuring Years & Years is good in my books. They catchy, layered vocals of the chorus make it even better.
