Easy on the ears EDM to start this week off with a fully energized track from N2N & John SkyField’s. And I know what you are thinking – no, this is not a cover of the epic Sky track Some Kinda Wonderful (which is what I will forever think anytime I see that track name).
Killer vocals and a downright catchy beat have me really liking Moon Taxi’s Year Zero. When done right, there may be nothing better than a classic indie rock song.
The debut track from Sofi Tukker has a guitar riff that will be stuck in your head for days. I don’t even care that I cannot decipher what language this is – hell it could even be made an instrumental for all I care – because as soon as that guitar whine begins I’m alright too deeply in to get back out.
What was I just saying about nothing better than catchy indie rock songs?! Well, here we have another (although I guess this may be closer to pop than rock.. but I don’t know. I’ve never been good at music genres). This song, to me, is a good example of how powerful well-written verses can be.
I have no idea how to even start classifying this song. Let’s just throw it into the “weirdly awesome” genre, because frankly my brain can’t even really process what’s going on for the entire 2:45 of GUM’s newest track. What I do know is that if I was blasting off in a spaceship to Mars, this track would be blaring in the background. It’s got a definite space-vibe. Oh also, if you like Tame Impala (or Pond for that matter) you’ll be pleased to know that Gum is actually Jay Watson. So that’s good times.
