#5. Big Gigantic Feat. Felly – St. Lucia
This song screams “festival” to me, and I fully expect it to be the song played at almost every big summer bash this year.
#4. Gareth Donkin – Inside
Struggling to sort the top 4 songs this week. Finally settled on Inside by Gareth Donkin as the 4th, although it’s deserving of a much higher placing. Some pretty smooth, mature RnB.
#3. Yes Please – Half Nelson
Yes Please are quickly jumping up the ranks of my favorite new bands. Their brand of catchy, frat-house hip hop is right in my wheelhouse.
#2. The 1975 – Birthday Party
The 1975 kinda feel like the superstar band that is kinda forgotten. To me, they are my new-age Dashboard Confessional / Something Corporate. There’s a bit of high-school love in their sound (and yes, I realize the song here is about heroin addition).
#1. Roddy Ricch – Big Stepper
I don’t know what it is, but I’m so into Roddy Ricch. Another standout track from Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial.
#5. Russ – Nighttime (Interlude)
I used to be really into Russ. Not sure what happened, but Nighttime (Interlude) is a welcome re-introduction, with it’s beyond-chill vibe and classic Russ vocals.
#4. Kaytranada Feat. Masego – Need It
Another quality track off Bubba. Not quite as killer as What You Need, but catchy nonetheless.
#3. K.Roosevelt – Slow
This one’s chorus won me over. The entire thing is just made to sing-along with.
#2. Sylo Nozra – FOMO
There’s something about the lyrics and Sylo’s voice that makes FOMO is painfully adorable.
#1. Yes Please – All The Time
We got an early (very early) contender for song of the year (2020)… and yes I realize it was released over three months ago. Truthfully, I also came across it in the last week of 2019. That said, my blog, my rules. I absolutely LOVE the lyrics, and have had it running through my head daily since I first heard it. Killer track.
